The Tale of Tom Riddle

  • Title: ‘The Tale of Tom Riddle’
  • Band: Witherwings
  • Album: On Lighter and Darker Matters (2010)

Before he even turned eleven
Little Tom Riddle sent bunnies to heaven (he scares the other children!)
At the age when little boys played in the dirt (it didn’t hang itself from the rafters)
Tom Riddle told them, ‘I can make you hurt’ (but it’s very hard to catch him)

They will never be the same again
Once touched by his evil hand
Like a rotting virus spreading within
Living where the light will never shine in

Light will never shine in
Light will never shine in

One year, the children took a trip to the shore
A school outing they will speak of no more (all I know is, he and Billy had argued the day before)
He brought the kids down to the caves below
And what happened there, we will never know (he swore they’d just gone exploring, but something!)

They will never be the same again (I’m sure of it)
Once touched by his evil hand
Like a rotting virus spreading within (there have been incidents)
Living where the light will never shine in

Light will never shine in (and, well, there have been a lot of things, funny things)
Light will never shine in (even so, it didn’t hang itself from the rafters, did it?)
